over six hurdles. Big Top started with him but did not go well, Foxchase clearing out to give a grand display. He has gained friends for the Grand Nationall Hurdles.

Tremello did a similar task by himself. He blundered over the- first, with no pace on, after which he gave a dashing display. .Specialist was much better than Diamond Ring over four flights, Town Survey being many lengths further back Glad Fox gave a good display over six hurdles. Moutoa Lord clearing four safely, after starting with him. Corineus and Skywriter were mates over two flights up the back. Lunaria soon drew clear of Bronze Night in a school over a round of the steeplechase fences on the course. Lunaria got in too close at the brush at the top of the straight and did not shape cleanly a Cutts’s, where Bronze Night came on to clear this fence quite safely, after shaping badly at the carriage paddock brush.

The work on the flat was done on the trial grass track which was fast. Special Flight was better than Broiefort Prince at the end of a mile in lmin 46 4-ssec, the last half in 52 3-ssec. Verdant was stopping at the end of his mile in lmin 46 2-ssec. taking 55sec for the last half. Indian Dawn and Graeme went well over seven furlongs In lmin 29sec, the last four in 50sec. - Aganev, brought home by her three-year-old sister, took lmin 31' l-ssec for seven. Palissv beat Newel Post in lmin 32 l-ssec, which Volomai equalled, while Revolte beat Coral Arc in lmin 32 3-ssec. Extra Flight and Ronald Macdonald were seen to advantage over six 'furlongs in lmin 15 2-ssec. Fine Night took lmin 17 4-ssec and Robingay beat Assault in lmin 19 l-ssec. Becalm beat Periwig, with Finn McCool further back, the last half-mile taking 52 3-ssec. Magical beat Musselman over five furlongs in lmin 3 2-ssec. the last four in 49 4-ssec, a good effort. Lecturer and Granddaughter were on terms in lmin 5 4-ssec and Da Vinci went easily in lmin 7sec. Erinborough shaded Idle Jest over half a mile in 45 4-ssec, the fastest of the morning. Banshee and Maryburn registered 50sec, which Irish Peach equalled alone. Prefect and Aberdare took 50 2-ssec for four furlongs and Beaugency was much too good for Valley Gold in 50 3-ssec, which Blue Print equalled alone. Leigh Barton did three furlongs in 38 4-ssec easily. Mr J. B. Douglas Clifford will not race any of his horses on Saturday, owing to the sudden death yesterday of his mother, Mrs H. B. Douglas, second daughter of the late Sir George Clifford. The deceased lady was very keen on racing and at different times she had .raced horses of her own, among them being Rocket, who ran second to Valantua in the New Zealand Cup. She also bred Mestiza, who raced well last season after being sold.
