HOCKEY
OTAGO ASSOCIATION
At the weekly meeting of the Management Committee of the Otago Hockey Association Mr E. J, Rennick reported on the centennial tournament, which, he said, had been an unqualified success. He said the Otago B team had given a specially good account of itself, and all teams and players had exhibited a gratifying spirit of sportsmanship. Minutes of appreciation of the services of all who had assisted in the conduct of the tournament were recorded. A request from Southland for a representative match at Invercargill on September 11 was received and held over pending a decision on the suggested quadrangular tournament at Timaru. To assist the Women’s Basketball Association it was decided to play all matches on Saturday ( with the exception of a senior trial match at 1.15 p.m. A committee consisting of Messrs H. Sew Hoy, E. J. Rennick and K. Hamilton was appointed to select a New Zealand secondary schools’ team during the secondary schools’ tournament.
