EMBLEM OF FRIENDSHIP
MISS MARY WOOTTQN PLANTS SHRUB IN NEW YORK
Rec. 9 p.m. NEW YORK, Aug 3. Miss Mary Wootton (Miss New Zealand) to-day planted a wattle shrub in the Anzac garden on the top floor of the British Empire Building in Rockefeller Centre to symbolise the friendship between the United States Australia and New Zealand Miss Wootton arrived in New York earlier to-day by air from England where she had spent three months. Miss Wootton explained that it was impossible to plant a kowhai. New Zealand’s national flower, because it would not grow in the New York climate.
