CLOUDY AND COOL The official weather forecast issued by the Government meteorologist in Wellington is:— Situation.—An anti-cyclone covers northern New Zealand and a deep depression lies south of New Zealand.; Forecast to 5 p.m.—Moderate to fresh winds from a westerly quarter; ' a few scattered showers this morning in South Otago; weather otherwise cloudy and cool. Weather in Dunedin.—Yesterday morning, temperatures in Dunedin were warm with a north-west wind and 4hr 36min of sunshine, but in the afternoon the wind changed to the south-east, the sky became overcast, and light rain fell. Temperatures were:—Maximum, 61.3 deg; minimum, 47.3 deg; grass minimum, 39.5 deg. For the 24 hours up to 9 a.m. no rain was recorded. After falling during the morning, barometric pressure developed an upward trend in the afternoon, the midnight reading being 30.05 in.
