TENSION IN SIAM

FEAR OF COMMUNIST SABOTAGE * ARMY PLACED ON ALERT N.Z.P.A.—Reuter Rec. 9 p.m. BANGKOK, July 23. The Siamese Government has ordered complete preparedness against the outbreak of Communist sabotage in Bangkok. Reports in the capital have indicated that the Government fears an uprising against the dictator Phibun by the services, or followers of the war-time “ Free Thai ” movement led by Pridi Panomyong, who fled from the country at the time of phibun’s coup last November. A senior police officer to-day said the situation in Bangkok was about to reach a crisis. Army headquarters had placed all troops on the alert.
