THE WAITEMATA PROJECT COMPANY’S RIGHTS ASSIGNED TO GOVERNMENT P.A. AUCKLAND, June 7. Twenty shillings in the £1 will be\refunded by the Auckland Harbour Bridge Company to its shareholders. An agreement has been signed under which the company and R, Hornibrook, Ltd., of Brisbane, assign all rights conferred on the company to the Government. In return, the Government has transferred £15,000 to the company, which is sufficient to pay all liabilities, settle directors’ fees, and repay the shareholders. A meeting of shareholders has been called for June 28 to appoint liquidators. The company was formed in 1931, with a capital of £IO,OOO, to build a bridge across the Waitemata Harbour. In view of the recommendations of the 1946 commission, the Government promised to build the bridge.
