WIN FOR EASTERN

Soccer Match Against Oamaru In an interesting Soccer match before a good attendance at Takaro Park, Eastern (Dunedin) beat Oamaru by 4 goals to 2. Oamaru began well, and within a few minutes just missed scoring, the ball striking the cross bar. Eastern took the lead when K. Young netted with a fine shot, but P. White equalised .for Oamaru with a long kick from near halfway. K. Young scored again for Eastern, and then Oamaru narrowly missed a coupld of goals.

After Brown had scored for Oamaru early in the second spell, Eastern regained command and H. Chin netted twice in quick succession. The final score. Eastern 4, Oamaru 2, was a fair indication of the merits of the teams. Mr A. Napier was the referee.
