“PROLETARIAN SCIENCE”

Sir, —Allow me to inform “ Greg ” that I have studied the social sciences and that great book, the Bible, which embodies all the sciences; further, I have given many years of my life to the study of ” man,” on which all the sciences are based. It is because of these facts and the knowledge I have gained that I have no hesitation in saying that the Marxian philosophy is unsound and dangerous to th i development of modern political conditions, and to industrial development and peace. Furthermore, that it is opposed to Christianity, socialism and democracy. Let us make a brief analysis of Marxism —Communism—and the four sciences. First, psychology. Under a state of Marxism man 'ls denied the right to act and express his thoughts. He is denied political freedom and action. Secondly, biology; Man's choice of a mate is affected by the loss of his political freedom, for his movements from place to place is limited. Thirdly, eco-omics: Man's economic interests are affected. They may. be improved or they may be restricted, it would depend and be relative to the position he occupies and to the services lie would be " compelled "to give. He may be allowed or refused permission to choose a calling. Four, philosophy: Man is limited and affected by whatever are the desires and policy of the “ dictator ” or the " executive ” in control. For example, he may be allowed access to books which enable him to develop his mind and broaden his outlook, or he may be debarred, and his education and learning restricted to a point where he is but a unit in the social system. Under Marxism man lives under conditions similar to a soldier and a sailor. He is ( given economic “ security ” but is denied political and economic freedom. His choice of domicile and occupation is made for him. The difference in a Christian socialist and democratic State to Communism is that man's position relative to the sciences is that he would be free to move, to work, to think, to act, and according to his ability and mental capacity he could improve his own position and assist others. May I in conclusion say to “ Greg ” and “ M. H.” that I have tried to be a " Christian ” socialist for almost 50 years, and I have found it a rough and hard road, but I still believe it to be the only road that will lead men on to the desired end of “ Peace on earth.” It is because men are afraid of the hard road and truth that men like the writer “ poll ” few votes at election times.—l am, etc., C. M. Moss.

I" Greg ” may reply briefly; otherwise the correspondence is closed. —Ed. O.D.T.]
