THE WEATHER
CLOUDY AND COLD The Meteorological Office in Wellington has issued the following weather forecast for to-day:— Situation—An intense anti-cyclone is moving across the Tasman Sea and sotuhern New Zealand. < Forecast to 5 p.m. To-day.—Light winds from an easterly quarter. Weather cloudy and cold at first. Further Outlook.—Fair to fine. Weather in Dunedin.—Bright sunshine tempered the cold south wind which blew in Dunedin on Saturday afternoon -and yesterday. Earlier in the day the wind was blowing from the north-west, and together with the 7hr 24min of sunshine throughout the day, conditions were much milder. Early yesterday morning the sun shone for lhr 30min, but clouds gathered from the south,, and rain fell during the afternoon and evening. Temperatures were:—Saturday: Maximum, 48.1 deg; minimum, 39.3 deg; grass „minimum, 32.5 deg. Sunday: Maximum. 48deg; minimum, 42.9 deg: grass minimum, 40.1 deg. No rain was recorded for the 24 hours ending at 9.30 a.in', yesterday, but during the previous 24 hours 0.02 in fell. The barometric pressure rose steadily on Saturday and Sunday, the midnight reading being 30.6 in (1036 millibars).
