ST. CLAIR BEACH
"DISGRACE TO DUNEDIN”
future policy discussed
“In my mind the St. Clair Beach is a disgrace to Dunedin, and something should be done to improve it. It could be made one of the attractions of Dunedin,” said Mr M. Robson at the annual meeting of the St. Clair Improvement Association, when its future policy was being discussed. One speaker mentioned that the beach was one of the finest- in New Zealand, and if visitors were to be attracted concentration would have to be made on the improvement •of its amenities. It was suggested that the baths could be heated, and possibly a sound shell erected for concert parties and bands.
Mr Robson suggested that the major proceeds from carnivals in the next few years should be put aside until such time as concrete proposals could be put forward.
