ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL
Advice has been received that Hector and White have been chosen to represent South Canterbury Association in their game against the Southland Association at Invercargill on June 0. A Junior seven-a-side tournament will be held on Saturday at Takaro Park commencing at 11 a.m. The seniors will play Northern Hearts (Timaru) at 2.30 p.m. As there has been a growing interest taken in this sport in the North Otago district it has been decided to try to form a new club on the South Hill. It this club is supported it will raise the number in the district to three, and next year it is hoped that the association will be able to run its own competition without having to travel to Timaru. The games played on Saturday between the Oamaru clubs were very evently contested and the standard of play was high, although marred by the slippeiy condition of the ground. The feature of the play was the control that some of the young players had over the wet ball. Had the conditions been better, bright, open play would have been seen. With a little more coaching the teams in the Junior Grade will improve and in time solve the problem of senior players.
