BRIEF AFTERNOON RAIN The Meteorological Ofiice in Wellington has issued the following official weather forecast for to-day:— Situation.—A weak high pressure ridge lies over New Zealand. A low pressure trough is approaching from the west. Forecast to 5 p.m. To-day.—Moder-ate north-west winds, later backing to the south-west. Weather, fair at first, cloud increasing with some brief raiii this afternoon. Temperatures cool. , Weather in Dunedin.—lndifferent conditions yesterday morning were followed by clearer skies in the afternoon and the sun was unobscured for a total of three hours. The temperature ranged from 47.5 degrees to 52.5 degrees, and the rainfall was 0.34 in The wind was from the south-west. The barometer reading at midnight was 29.53 (1000 millibars).
