AUCKLAND, May 24. “ Money must be spent in keeping with the dignity of the occasion,” said the Mayor, Mr Allum. to-day, replying to criticism of alleged extravagance in the outlay for the royal visir. “ There is no suggestion of throwing money away,” he added. “If you have a guest in your house you must make adequate arrangements for hospitality.” Adequate facilities must be. provided to enable the people to see and hear the King, he said.
