RABBITING
Sir,—l read that a levy of 10 per cent, is to come off all rabbitskins from June 16. 1943, to May 31. 1949, inclusive. What a state of affairs have the powers that be got the country into. This money is being collected so as the Government can get rid of rabbits. Imagine how generous they are being—ls days in the year, no levy off! I believe that the recentlyappointed board were paid £3 3s each per day, plus all expenses. How much the total for a day’s wages? Can any sane man Imagine a rabbiter catching rabbits when they are breeding? We are told this is the time to kill them, working 16 hours per day', with skins at £2 per 100. The Government has a cut out of this, the board 4s, social security 2s 6d, also classing, railage and commission. What Is left for the man who works long hours and earns the money while keeping down the rabbits— certainly not £3 3s per dav nlus expenses. Methmks rabbi Ling is going to be turned into a Public Works scheme, so as to create highly-paid talking jobs” for defeated politicians after this election.—l am, etc.. Rabbiter.
