FALSE PRETENCES CHARGE
In the Supreme Court yesterday, before Mr Justice Kennedy, Arthur George Couehlan pleaded not guilty to obtaining £IOO from James Charles Gore on November 7, 1947, by false pretences. He was represented by Mr F. W. McElrea. For the Crown, Mr J. B. Deaker said that in November last the accused had leased a service station at St. Clair, the owner of the property being James Alexander Fleming. The complainant called for petrol one day, and the accused asked him for £IOO to buy petrol next day The accused said he had overbought his stocks and had £l7O owing on the books. Gore mace the loan of After the evidence of one witness had been heard the case was adjourned until this morning. Remanded for Sentence Colin Raymond Wills (Mr C. J. L. White) pleaded guilty to having unlawful carnal knowledge of, a girl under the age of 16 years on February 19 at Dunedin, and was remanded in custody for sentence until Friday.
