WOMEN’S GOLF TEAM MATCH WITH SOUTHLAND Dally Times Special Service INVERCARGILL, May 11. Southland beat Otago by 9 games to 2 In an interprovincial women’s golf match at Gore yesterday afternoon. The visitors appeared to find difficulty in judging the approaches and putts. Results (Otago names first):—Miss K. Shand lost to Mrs J. E. Salisbury 3 and 2: Mrs J. K. Doland and Mrs S. M, Wilson. all square; Mrs D. Burnett beat Mrs J. J. Johnston 1 up; Mrs J. N. George lost to .Mrs G. E. Glennie 6 and 5; Miss M. Elliott beat Miss N. Adamson 3 and 2; Miss J. North lost to Mrs A. J. Homan 2 and 1; Mrs G. B. P. Wilson lost to Miss S. Todd 6 and 5; Mrs P. A. Joblin lost to Miss S. King 5 and 4; Mrs H. G. Wethey lost to Mrs D. S. McLeod 5 and 3; Mrs A. Jones lost to Mrs H. M. Smith 2 down; Mrs H. W. Justice lost to Mrs A. Hain 4 and 3; Mrs A. Sime lost to Mrs S. Adamson 6 and 5. Frozen greens and fairways made conditions difficult for competitors in the first qualifying round of the Eastern Southland Women’s Golf Championship this morning. In the Senior Championship Mrs Dolan, with 90. had the best score. Miss North was fifth with 95.
