CLUB FLYING

ANNUAL FIELD DAY LANDING AND BOMBING Although the day was overcast and there was a heavy mist on the hills around the plains, flying conditions were reasonably good on Saturday, when pilots of the Otago Aero Club took part in the competitions run in connection with the club’s annual field day. It was found necessary to hold over the Paape Cup Navigation Contest and the aerobatics contest until yesterday, and the former event has not yet been completed. Despite the fact that the club’s extensive membership roll carries remarkably few flying members, entries were high in the majority of the events. Two senior members of the A.T.C., V. J. Salmond and E. Mansfield, turned in good performances, and a foundation member of the club, E. Hope, was one of the placed men in the Senior Landing Contest. The results were:— Trengrove Cup, Junior Landing Contest (two standard circuits at 1000 feet and two glide approaches, landing as close as possible to a 10-foot square mark on the field).—S.
