BANK EMPLOYEES’ REQUEST

ADDITIONAL CURRENCY NOTE LONDON, Apl. 16. A special request that £2 notes, as well as 10s and £1 notes, should be issued has been made to Sir Stafford Cripps by the National Union of Bank Employees. It says a £2 note would be a great relief to banks in the physical work of handling and counting notes, and that it would help industry by reducing the number of notes to be folded and put into pay packets eacli week. The union, it is reported, has support in the. City of London, where it is felt there is a real need for a currency note between the £1 and the £5.
