Jotting Withdrawals from the events on the first day of the Forbury Park meeting are due to-morrow. Ruling Favourites Highland Fling and Emulous are the ruling favourites for the Centennial Cup, with Plunder Bar next in demand. Elzear Still Alive Foaled in 1921, by Petereta from Lady Elwood, Elzear is still alive. She was raced in the colours of the Dunedin owner. Mr G. J. Barton. Manawatu Cup Winner Magnificent followed up his success at Hutt Park by winning the Manawatu Cup on Saturday. A six-year-old by Jack Potts from/ Mercedes, he is trained by P Gallagher, who was also successful with Positive at Hutt Park. A Close Finish There was a great finish to the Orepuki Harness Trot at Invercargill on Saturday, Prince Hall gaining a narrow decision from Hall Ace and Fortitude in a photo finish for the first three places. Hall Stand made most of the running, but he began to give ground at the home turn, where Fortitude took over and led into the straight from Hall Ace, Keymaster, Duncraig, Parawa Derby, and Prince Hall. In the run home Hall Ace had Fortitude beaten just short of the post when Prince Hall finished fast to secure a head decision. Hall Ace beat Fortitude by a neck for second, with Keymaster right up m fourth place.
