TOP PRICE OF 800 GUINEAS SOUTHLAND DISPERSAL SALE Special to the Daily Times. INVERCARGILL, Apl. 16. The top price at the dispersal sale of the Red Band Lodge Trotting Stud at Invercargill ito-day was secured for the Wrack stallion Indianapolis ■ who was secured by Mr P. W. Davidson, of Auckland, for 800gns. Indianapolis was brought to Southland from Auckland three seasons ago and he is now to return to the North Island. ~ „ Of the 24 lots offered 22 were sold for a total of 3545gn5. The weather was fine and there was a large attendance present from all parts of Southland and Otago. , . . , T Sea Max, who had been served by U Scott but whose pregnancy test was negative, topped the brood mares offered. She was secured by the Gore studmaster, Mr G. Youngson, for 600gns. A good type of Gold Bar filly from Lome Nurse brought the best price of the five yearlings offered. She was secured by Mr F. Walker, of Invercargill, for 305gns. Two two-year-olds, a gelding, Noble Scott from Lady Effie, and a filly by U Scott from Effie Parrish, each brought 300gns. Mr L. Fahey, of Dunedin, secured a yearling colt by Indianapolis from Pure Gold for lOOgns, and Mr B. Hey, of Dunedin, secured the brood mare, Shirley Anne in foal to Indianapolis, for 35gns. The highest price among the handicap horses was secured for Kiatoa who brought 177gns. , , . . The harness and other gear also sold at high prices. Three sulkies, were sold for £7O, £3O, and £4O respectively. The thoroughbred Mare Maria, by Gynerium from Prima Lux, was bought by Mr W. Taiaroa for 130gns.
