UNITED NATIONS APPEAL The public meeting called by the Mayor (Mr A. Y. Park), to launch the United Nations appeal for children was well attended. It was decided to hold a procession of school children, led by the Palmerston Pipe Band, on May 7, and pictures in the evening, if available Collectors were appointed to make a house-to-house canvass during May.
