THRILLING SIGHT
DRUM-MAJORS’ DISPLAY
It was drum-majors’ day at Carisbrobk yesterday, and they provided a crowd of about 12,000 with a highly picturesque display. The afternoon was brilliantly fine, and, with little wind, conditions could not have been excelled. With heavy rain falling in Dunedin at 10 o’clock, the prospect of an open air display seemed remote, and this was apparently the opinion of the executive of the Pipe Bands Association of New Zealand, who decided to hold the B Grade Test Selection in His Majesty’s Theatre in the afternoon and to postpone the. drummajors’ displays until this morning. A little later the rain ceased, and with the prospect of a fine afternoon the executive decided to revert to the original programme The A Grade contest was won by Drum-major T. A. Gordon, of the City
