EMPIRE TALKS URGED
MAINTAINING WORLD PEACE BRITISH PARLIAMENTARIANS’ MOVE N.Z.P.A.— Copyright Rec. 8 p.m. LONDON, Mar. 26. Six members of the House of Commons—Messrs L. H. Guest, R. J. Davies, W. Dobbie, R. W. Sorensen, G. H. Oliver, and W. F. Vernon—in a letter to The Times urge the British Government to call a conference between Britain and the dominions to consider how best to maintain world peace and security, and also how far this may be done through the United Nations. , The Commopers consider the move necessary in view of the deterioration in relations between Russia and the West. Understanding with Russia Britain must never cease to seek understanding with Russia, said the War Minister, Mr Emanuel Shinwcll, in a speech to-day. “If we fail then sooner or later the world will be threatened with a further conflict. If we could only realise the horror of a future war no measure would be too extreme to prevent it. The doog, is left open for Russia—l hope the Russian leaders take full advantage of that offer.”
