GUATEMALA’S PLANS
REOPENING OF BORDER BRITISH SHIP’S DEPARTURE AWAITED N.Z.P.A.—Reuter Copyright Rec. 10 p.m. BELIZE, Mar. 11. The Guatemalan Foreign Minister, Senor Munoz Meany, has informed American business men that the Gua-temalan-British Honduras border will be reopened as soon as the cruiser Sheffield leaves Belize. Admiral Sir William Tennant said to-day, however, that there were no plans to withdraw his command ship from this area.
The American Timber Company, which is felling mahogany forests in Guatemala for shipment through British Honduras, is losing 5000 dollars a day because of the border ban. If and when the Sheffield eoes, it is expected that the Gloucester will stay behind. It is generally believed here that one of the chief results of the current incident will be the stationin? of a permanent, if small, force in the colony, which was previously totally unguarded.
