Vice-Regal Yesterday morning the GovernorGeneral, Sir Bernard Freyberg, and Lady Freyberg paid a visit to the Roslyn Worsted and Woollen Mills. Ministerial The Prime Minister, Mr Fraser, is expected to arrive in Dunedin on Saturday, March 20, to attend functions in connection with the Otago centenary, and will leave again on the following Saturday. The Minister of Agriculture, Mr Cullen, will arrive in Dunedin on Saturday, March 20, and will leave again on the following Monday morning. The Minister of Defence, Mr Jones, will arrive at Dunedin by air from the north this afternoon and he will attend the centennial service at Otakou to-morrow and will return to Wellington on Monday. Mr D. W. Murray, of Hawera. is visiting Dunedin. Mr H. C. Williamson, treasurer of the Otago Rugby Union, was elected a life member of the Union Football Club at its annual meeting on Tuesday evening. Mr' and Mrs W. B. Helean left during the week for Wellington to await tho departure of the Arawa, en route to South Africa, where Mr Helean will take up ,a position with the British colonial administrative service in Tanganyika.
At a givic function in the Council Chambers yesterday, the Mayor, Mr Cameron, extended the city’s congratulations to the Verv Rev. Dr D. C. Herron, of Knox Church, on the honour of doctorate of divinity that had been conferred upon him bv the University of St. Andrew's, Scotland. It was an honour well deserved, the Mayor said, and a fitting one in Centennial Year because Dr Herron had done so much for the community in years gone by.
