EASTER TOURNAMENT

INTERUNIVERSITY MEETING CRICKET ON PROGRAMME Cricket is to be included in the New Zealand University tournament to be held in Dunedin at Easter, but points will not be counted for the Tournament Shield. It is hoped that cricket will be included as a tournament sport in future. Among the players who will be seen in matches at Easter are several prominent Plunket Shield men. R. T. Hunt, the Otago batsman, will probably captain Otago University, and A. R. McGibbon and F. B. Smith (the New Zealand representative) will probably play for Canterbury, which will also call upon J. G. Leggett, the South Island representative player. Champions of New Zealand standard are expected -to be prominent in athletics. Canterbury appears strong with such men as J. H. Borland, the former New Zealand high jump champion, and D. R. Batten, the present 220 yards national champion. Auckland will have the New Zealand 440 yards hurdles champion and Olympic representative, J. M. Holland, while in the Otago team will be J. D. Sinclair, the New Zealand national mile champion, and W. J. Muirhead, who was run-ner-up in the 120 yards hurdles at the New Zealand championships. In addition to the eight-oared rowing championship, fours are also being raced this year. The lawn tennis will feature some of the leading younger players of the Dominion. The programme of events for the tournament is:— Saturday, March 27.-9 a.m. to noon, basketball: 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m., boxing; 9 a.m. to noon, shooting (Invercargill); 9 a.m to 6 p.m., lawn tennis; 9.30 a.m. to 10 a.m., rowing; 10.30 a.m. to 6 p.m., cr ; !; 2.30 to 4.15 p.m., athletics; 7.30 to 1<- p.m., athletics. Monday, [arch 29.-9 a.m. to 1 pmbasketball; 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., lawn tennis; 9 a m. to noon, swimming; 10.30 to 6 p.m., cricket; 2.30 p.m. to 5 p.m., athletics; 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., swimming. Tuesday, March 30.—10 a.m. to 4 p.m.. lawn tennis; 2 p.m., drinking horn contest.
