PUBLIC NOTICES DUNEDIN CITY COUNCIL NOTICE TO WATER CONSUMERS. In view of the continued depletion of water supplies in the city reservoirs, all consumers are again earnestly requested to use every poss ; ble effort to ECONOMISE IN THE USE OF WATER and to reduce their consumption to a minimum. The Council has also deemed it necessary to emphasise the following RESTRICTIONS ON THE USE OF WATER:— (a) Tlie use of water for any purpose by means of a Hose is ABSOLUTELY PROHIBTED, whether or not the supply is metered. (b) Owners of urinals using a continuous supply of water, or where an automatic flushing cistern is in operation, are notified to cut off such supplies Urinals may be flushed every two hours in the presence of an attendant. The Council’s Inspectors have been instructed to prosecute in all cases where a breach of these restrictions is detected. The partial closing of the valves at reservoir outlets is being extended, and these valves will now be operated from 9 a.m.-ll a.m., 12 noon-5.30 p.m., 6.30 p.m.7 a.m. The public is earnestly requested to ass.st the Council in preventing wastefu 1 or unauthorised use of water, as a further diminution in supplies of stored water may necessitate the cutting off of extraordinary supplies to commercial and manufacturing prem ses, with resultant effect on employment and industry.
