STRUCK BY TREE
YOUNG MAN KILLED An inmate of the Orokonui Home at Waitati was killed when he was struck by a falling tree on Thursday morning. He was Douglas Haig Anscombe aged 29. Anscombe was a member of .a treefelling . party at the home. When last
seen he was sitting on a stump 16 feet away from a tree which was being felled It was not noticed that he was missing till after the party had returned from lunch. He had apparently moved away from the stump when the tree, in falling, was caught in the branches of another tree, and landed off the projected line of fall.
An inquest was held at Orokonui yesterday afternoon before Mr J." D. Willis, S.M., when a finding in accordance with the medical evidence was recorded.
