SIGNAL OFFICER AND GUNTHER Special to the Daily Times. CHRISTCHURCH, Mar. 5. R. E. McLellan was at Riccarton this morning with Signal Officer, who will be ridden at Trentham by C. T. Wilson. W. F. Hillis was here also with Mr W. E. Hazlett’s Gunther, -whom he will :ride at Trentham. The two Southland, horses will leave to-night for Wellington. After racing at Trentham, they will return here for the Canterbury Jockey Club's Easter meeting. ~ , ' L. J. Ellis will race two of his team at Motukarara to-morrow. He will ride Beaugence in. the Bradley Stakes, while K. O'Brien will be on Silver Link in the Peninsula Handicap, with a 71b allowance A. Stokes will ride Faithful Pal, who ( will run in' the Peninsula Handicap tomorrow. while C. T.’' Wilson '.will be on Royal Flash in the Ahuriri Hack HandiC T. McKav took Excellency north Cor the Wellington meeting early this week. L. Cavalier has had trouble with one of Artful Maid’s legs and she may have to miss her engagement at Motukarara to-, morrow. , ■ . , Theocritus is expected at Riccarton after racing at Trentham and he will be under the care of G. S. Barr for the Canterbury Jockey Club’s.. meeting. In order that the horses may become accustomed to the starting stalls, there will be starting practice from the mile and a-quarter barrier at Riccarton each week up till the' opening of the Canterbury Jockey Club’s meeting.
