LARGE AREAS FLOODED
HEAVY DOWNPOUR IN CENTRAL AUSTRALIA SYDNEY, Mar. 1. Heavy rains have flooded large areas of Central Australia, bringing about conditions which, according to pastoralists, will result in a huge tract of country having its best season for 10 years. Five rivers which are normally dry are flowing freely. Some cattle stations have received 9in of rain since last Thursday. A passenger train has been held up by wash-outs in usually arid country. 60 miles south of Oodnatatta, and trains carrying fresh food for Alice Springs have also been delayed.
