WARM AND OVERCAST The Meteorological Office in Wellington has issued the following weather forecast for to-day:— Situation.—An anti-cyclone lies east of New Zealand, and a complex depression is advancing across the South Tasman. Forecast to 5 p.m. To-day.— Moderate to fresh northerly to northwesterly winds, becoming strong in exposed positions. Weather overcast and warm, with scattered rain about the western ranges. Weather in Dunedin.—-The highest temDeratures for some time were recorded in Dunedin yesterday, the maximum being 79.5 deg, the minimum 58.5 deg, and the minimum on the grass 66deg. The sun shone for Bhr 6mm. No rain was recorded for the 24-hour period ending at 9.30 a.m. There was a light wind from the north-east until the evening, when the wind changed to north-west, and the night was very oppressive. The barometer fell steadily from mid-day, the midnight reading being 29.80 in (1009 millibars). SUMMARY FOR FEBRUARY A summary of the weather records taken in Dunedin during the month of February is:— Rainfall.—Total fall, 2.57 in; number of days with rain, 15; greatest fall in one day, 0.70 in (February 22). Sunshine.—Total sunshine, 156 hr 54min; number of days with sunshine, 24; greatest period of daily sunshine, 12hr (February 27). Temperatures. Average maximum, 65.02 deg; average minimum, 48.2 deg; highest recorded, '3l.sdeg (February 14); lowest recorded. 39.0 deg (Februarv 26).
