SPECTACULAR FIRE
HUNDREDS OF PACKING CASES P.A. WELLINGTON, Mar. 1. Petone experienced its biggest and most spectacular fire in recent years when, shortly after 4 p.m. on Saturday, hundreds of motor car packing cases, covering more than an acre of ground, were destroyed. The fire broke out in the yard of J. Jacobson and Sons, Ltd., and spread among the cases. The firemen were unable to save the timber but managed, in spite of intense heat, to prevent the flames spreading to the adjacent office buildings
