The National Council of Women held a meeting last night, with Mrs W. K. Cameron, the president, in the chair. It was reported that the Chamber of Commerce and the Manufacturers’ Association had collected almost £3OO, which was to be used to assist Mr Philip Barling in the fine effort he was making to send tats to Britain. This money,was to be used to pay for a typist to attend to the extensive correspondence and for an assistant to help with the packing and sealing of the tins. Any person desirous of helping could obtain a 401 b tin from the liftman at the Savoy, or could leave with him a full tin of first-grade edible fat. Arrangements for the collection of secondgrade fat would be completed later. Miss Duthie reported on the first meeting of the sub-committee of the Domestic Welfare Association, and stressed the urgency for early treatment of tuberculosis cases and the need for domestic help in such cases. . .
