AN OFFENSIVE PRACTICE
WARNING BY MAGISTRATE A warning that the practice of casting offensive matter must cease was issued by Mr J. D. Willis, S.M., in the City Police Court yesterday. Prosecuting three offenders, Senior Sergeant J. H. S. Hogg
said the practice was the subject of continual complaint by shopkeepers. For the offence, fines of £3, with costs in each case, were imposed on William McDowell. Leonard Maxwell Humphries and Patrick Celestlne Knight. Mr J. S. D. More, who sought an order for the "suppression of publication of Knight’s name, was reminded by the magistrate that the court had no jurisdiction to make such an order.
