LOST DOGS
Sir, —Hardly a day goes by without one seeing advertisements for stray dogs. It is pitiful to see these poor, dumb creatures scanning the faces of each passerby, hoping to find the master or a friend. Could I make this suggestion to the owners? They should advertise right away when an animal is lost, not wait for days, in the hope that it will turn up, and they should give full address if no telephone number. This makes the way easier for the finder to make contact with the owner, and much valuable time is saved.
I myself work this way—l copy the lost animal’s description into a note book and always take this book with me when I go out. I have in this way been able to restore many dogs to their owners with as little delay as possible. In case any reader imagines that I am making money out of this, let me disillusion them. I do not accept rewards. If any appreciative owners are anxious to give a reward, might I suggest that they themselves send It to he Blue Cross Sociey direct?—l am, etc.. Humanity.
