OBITUARY
MR A. C. GIFFORD PA. WELLINGTON, Feb. 28. The death has occurred of Mr Algernon Charles Gifford, aged 85, the astronomer and mathematician. He was a member of numerous astronomical • societies, including the French, Canadian, and Royal Societies, and was Donovan lecturer in astronomy in 1935. He was also president of the, Wellington Philosophical Society. Mr Gifford was formerly a 'master at Waitaki High School, Christ’s College, and Wellington College. He was educated at the Oamaru Grammar School and later in England.
