GOOD RECOVERY

WELLINGTON BATSMEN MATCH AGAINST FIJIANS PA. WELLINGTON, Feb. 29. Forty-seven runs behind on the first innings, Wellington made a good recovery in their second innings against the Fijians at the Basin Reserve on Saturday, and are now 215 runs ahead with three wickets in hand. A glorious onehanded catch at short fine-leg by Turuva, two smart run-outs, and some powerful hitting by D. S. Wilson were features of a bright day’s cricket. Conditions were ideal. Wellington’s batting in the second innings was inclined to over-cau-tiousness at times, but R. Phillips and R. T. Barker impressed, but two experienced cricketers, D. S. Wilson and A. McLean, scored the bulk of the runs. Scores:—
