CONFERENCE IN LONDON
TRADE UNION DISCUSSION OF MARSHALL PLAN N.Z.P.A. Special Correspondent
Rec. 9 p.m. LONDON, Feb. 27 It is announced in London that the American Federation of Labour and the French non-Communist trade union organisation “Force Ouvriere" have both accepted invitations by the British Trades Union Congress to attend a conference on the Marshall Plan in London on March 9 and 10In addition, trades union organisations in Holland, Belgium, Luxemburg, Norway Sweden, Denmark and Switzerland’ will also be represented. No response has yet been received, however from the Communist-controlled French C.G.T. or from Italian trades unionists. , , , , Invitations were also extended to representatives of German trades unions in all four occupation zones, but it is considered probable that only representatives from the British and American zones will attend. The conference was called by tne British T.U.C. as the result of opposition by the Russian and Russian satellite sections of the World Trades Union Federation to any discussion of the Marshall Plan.
