DAMAGED BY STORMS
NAVAL VESSELS IN FALKLANDS Rec. 11 p.m. LONDON, Feb. 28.. Storms damaged the cruiser Nigeria and sloop Snipe in the Falklands, according to Admiralty reports. Ihe Nigeria reached Port Stanley after weathering a 60-knot gale. Heavy seas smashed one boat, which was carried 20 feet above the waterline, and caused minor upper-deck damage. The Snipe had to slip anchor while visiting an out-station, put to sea with a number of local residents, and ride out the storm which reached 100 knots near the ship. The storm smashed the Snipe’s motor boat.
