“HAERE RA”
WARNING OF END OF DISPLAY
So intense was the interest of the crowd in the pyrotechnic pageant that it was difficult to return to reality and become aware that all was over. Perhaps this was realised by the organiser and, to put the issue beyond doubt, a special set piece which was ignited just before the final flight of rockets bade the onlookers “Good Night” and
“ Haere Ra ” (Maori for farewell). It was the only disappointment of the evening, which had passed all too quickly for everyone in the park.
