LAWN TENNIS
AUSTRALIANS v. OTAGO The draw for the lawn tennis match between Otago and Australia at Logan Park on Saturday has now been made, and it is possible to gain some indication of the strength of the opposing teams. J. E. Robson, Otago and New Zealand representative, will meet the Australian W. Sidwell, who is recognised as one of the finest Doubles players in the world as well as one of the outstanding exponents of the Singles game. Robson has proved that he is New Zealand's No. 2 player, so although the Australian's chances must be favoured, a well-contested game should result. Miss Kerr will meet Miss P. Jones, a graceful but aggressive young player, who ranks among Australia's top ladies. In the Doubles, the Australian combination, Sidwell and Sedgman, a world class team, represent formidable opposition to the Otago pair, Robson and J. Paterson, but the Otago men may be relied upon to fight for every point. Misses Kerr and M. Robertson will play Mrs Newcombe and Miss Jones. Much will depend upon the ability of the Otago girls to forget the reputation of the visitors and concentrate solely upon the game. Features of the afternoon will be the exhibition matches between members of the Australian team. Details are advertised .in this issue.
