Vice-Regal The Governor-General, Sir Bernard Freyberg, V.C., and Lady Freyberg. will leave Wellington by ferry steamer on February 11 for the South Island, where they will pay official visits to Ashburton,. Timaru and Oamaru. They will arrive in Dunedin on February 20, where they will remain in residence for approximately six weeks. Ministerial The Minister of Defence, Mr Jones, arrived from Wellington by air yesterday. He will attend the regatta at Port Chalmers this afternoon and the South African War Veterans’ reunion this evening. Departmental business will occupy him on Monday and he will leave for the north again on Tuesday.
Dr W. A. Anderson and Mrs Anderson, and Miss J. M. Anderson, of Queenstown, are the guests of Miss White. Anderson’s Bay. Cr E. J. Anderson, chairman of the Dunedin City Council’s Transport Committee, the engineer-manager, Mr L. C. Greig, and the city treasurer, Mr J. A. Aitcheson, returned from Wellington by the afternoon express yesterday. As the City Council representatives, they have been attending the hearing by the Price Tribunal of thp council’s application for increased fares on its transport services.
