TOP PRICE AT GORE SALE OUTSTANDING FILLY . Special to the Daily Times , INVERCARGILL, Feb. 6. • The top price of 325gns was paid by standing type of Gold Bar yearling filly tanding type of Gold Bar yearling filly at the first annual sale of pacing and trotting stock held at Gore to-day. The Gold Bar filly was submitted by Messrs J. O’Shannessy and J. F. Doyle, of Winton, and she was a grand type of yearling in every respect. ,Her dam, Lome Nurse (dam of Icilma) was got by Drusus from Merce Pointer, a Logan Pointer mare from Merce, and tracing back to the Taproot mare, Thelma. Little interest was shown In the sale and the market dragged from the outset. Of the 55 lots only 20 were sold, 30 being passed in and the other five withdrawn. The 20 offerings aggregated 150gns, an average of 75gns. There was an attendance of about 400 people from all parts of Southland. Two other particularly good types of yearlings were offered but both failed to reach the reserve of their owners. A Dillon Hall colt from Happy Nancy by Happy Voyage, offered by Ml- James Tait. of Gore, was passed at 350gns. A welldeveloped Dillon Hall colt from Gayola by Adioo Guy from Lydia, offered by Mr J. J. Burke, of Winton. was passed at 450gns. Several horses in training were submitted but there was little inquiry. Mr F. Johnson, of Momona, offered seven of his team and sold six. Waterweed was bought at 30gns, Calumet Axworthy at 50gns, and Arawa Lad at lOOgns. Redcliffe Direct, a Winton Cup winner, changed hands at 25gns.
