OBITUARY
Mr Thomas Jackman
The death occurred on Monday of one of North Otago’s oldest residents, Thomas Jackman, at the age of 95 years. He was born at Campbelltown, Tasmania, and when two years old came with his parents to Dunedin. He worked at Flaxman’s fellmongery, in the Kaikorai Valley, for six years, and then came to Oamaru, where he was employed in a livery stable in Tyne street, later going as groom to “ Balruddery.” After some years' employment in fellmongery works at Reidston, Maheno and Wellington, Mr Jackman engaged in contract wool scouring and classing at Waitangi, Te Akatarawa, Otematata, Omarama, Hakataramea, Hurstlea, Mara•weka, Totara, Kauroo Hill, Corriedale and “Alta Vady.” He was an expert in fine wools and retired when over 80 years of age. He is survived by pne son, Mr Thomas Jackman, of Totara, and there are a number of grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
