SALARY REVIEW
ANOMALIES IN PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION FORMED Industrial Correspondent WELLINGTON, Jan. 23 A committee to review the salary anomalies and discrepancies claimed to exist over large sections of the public service will be set up shortly. This committee will be representative of the Public Service Commission and the Combined State Services’ Organisation and will make recommendations to the Government. The disagreement between the commission and the services’ organisation over the capacity of this committee has now been settled. Mr J. Turnbull, secretary of the New Zealand Public Service Association, said tonight that an agreement had been reached with the commission on the basis of the suggestions put forward by the Prime Minister, Mr Fraser. The committee would review the alleged anomalies in service salaries as compared with those ruling outside the service and would deal with margins for skill. Mr Turnbull said it was hoped that the committee would begin preliminary meetings very soon. The groups specifically affected were labourers, tradesmen and clerks and many others were indirectly affected.
