Friesian Competition

The Otago and Southland branches of the New Zealand Friesian Association have instituted a Friesian Oaks Competition to be held annually, and the first competition will be conducted at the Clutha and Matau A. and P. Society’s show at Balclutha next Friday. The prizes total £56, and 10 heifers will compete in this class. Briefly, the conditions are that the heifexs must be born between July 1, 1944, and June 30, 1945; each animal must have been tested under C.0.R., Government 0.H.T., or special pedigree group herd testing; points are awarded for both butter-fat production and type, 50 points in each case. The production figures will be supplied by the testing authorities, and the heifers will be judged at the show for type- The points awarded for production and type are added, and the heifer with the highest total will be awarded first prize.
