JEWS FOR PALESTINE
MASSIVE OPERATION IN PROGRESS
Rec. 1 a.m. LONDON, Nov. 9. Sixteen thousand Jews are approaching Palestine in the biggest illegal Jewish immigration operation yet undertaken, says the Sunday Despatch correspondent in Jerusalem. These Jews embarked at Constanta without passports in ships formerly named the Pancrescent and Panyork, manned by American crews, and sold by American owners to the World Zionist Movement.
The ships are reported to be equipped with naval guns and even torpedoes. The correspondent adds that the Royal Navy cannot intercept the ships because they are 7000 tons each. The navy’s Levant fleet consists mainly of destroyers, which are too light to attempt to “cradle” the immigrant ships without the risk of having the destroyers’ sides stove in
