He gained his doctorate in law in 1940. . . , . Several hours earlier, Dr Reid had been served with a suit charging that he had mismanaged orphans’ home funds. The suit, which was filed by the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home, claimed that Reid “ wasted ” the estate of the late Ella Griffith, who died m 1946 and bequeathed her estate to the children’s home. Dr Reid, as executor, should have had on hand 22,720 dollars in cash and 7600 securities from the estate, but the bank balance showed only 2100 dollars. The suit also claimed that Dr Reid was insolvent and had mismanaged the estate. A court order had been issued, directing Dr Reid to account for the discrepancy. The Griffith will specifically relieved Dr Reid of making ari inventory or appraisement of the estate and “from making returns annually or otherwise to any officers or any court.”
