CAMPAIGN CANCELLED

POULTRYLESS THURSDAYS IN AMERICA

Rec. 8 p.m. WASHINGTON, Nov. 7. President Truman’s special Food Committee announced to-day that American poultryless Thursdays would be called off immediately. Americans will still be asked not to use eggs on Thursdays. The action follows the “ Hens for Henry ” campaign started by angry chicken farmers who recently sent crates of birds to Mr Truman explaining that they could not sell them and could not afford to feed them.

The committee chairman, Mr Charles Luckman, said the decision was the result of a new grain-saving programme adopted for the poultry industry and it was hoped that 56,000,000 bushels of grain would be saved.
