Snack Bars for Waterside Workers
P.A. AUCKLAND, Oct. 19. The most elaborate and modern system of catering on the waterfronts of New Zealand will begin on the Auckland ■ wharves on Monday, November 3, with the opening of snack bars for waterside workers at four of the main wharves a month later. This will be followed by the opening of a large cafeteria in the headquarters of the Auckland branch of the Waterside Workers’ Union. ‘The installation of the snack bars and the cafeteria is being undertaken by the Auckland Harbour Board for the Waterfront Industry Commission, which will foot the bill of more than £12,000, but the entire catering organisation will be controlled by the union.
